Artist's Statement:
Passion for photography hit Susan’s psyche with such force, that she feels like there was no ‘before’. Its tendrils took hold in the darkroom and have continued to lure her back there. The marriage between the art and craft of photography, between vision and technique, between the new and the old and the possibilities this unleashes, unveils, gives her the opening to present herself to the world. Printmaking has opened another avenue of expression yet marries beautifully with, and echoes the beginnings of, photography. This partnership is a path to a growing body of work illustrating camera-less photography through the use of UV sensitive photopolymer plate as the basis for her prints whilst the darkroom delivers lumen prints, wet on wet cyanotype prints and photograms.
